HUGE Tom Turkey
A warm, windy day for spring in Wisconsin, Jesse Schoenherr
was hunting down his first turkey at 13 years of age. A weekend hunting
in Rome, WI with his dad, Mark, his uncle, Doug and grandfather, Ken was
the perfect way to get the job done.
However, on last the day of his hunt he still didn't have anything to show
for his efforts. As his dad and uncle packed up the truck calling it a day,
Jesse spotted a turkey several yards away. As the turkey decended over the
hill Jesse's grandfather told him to go after it. Jesse snuck over the ridge
and peeked ahead to see the turkey several yards ahead. A typical turkey would
have sniffed him out and fled, ruining Jesse's chances, but the wind was in
his favor and Jesse took the shot with his 12 gauge Winchester nailing the
turkey from 10 yards away.
His reward: A 22.5 lb tom turkey with a
9-1/2" beard!
