Story and photo submitted by Keshia Mattingly • Dec. 28, 2009 A buck dubbed "Big Buck Johnson" roamed the territory of Clay City, Kentucky for over 3 years according to trail cam photos, before being brought down by local hunter Buford Mattingly on November 20, 2009. Noted by Mattingly's family as a "buck of a lifetime", Buford had hunted this deer hard for three years. After he harvested the deer, he and his family brought him to town where it is said hundreds of people gathered around to take a peek at this legendary animal. According to Keshia Mattingly, Buford's daughter, "people were wanting to shake his hand and take pictures". She commented that it was an awesome experience.
